HOW DO I KNOW THAT I HAVE AN ALLERGY?
WHEN SHOULD I CONTACT AN ALLERGOLOGY SPECIALIST?
In case of:
- difficulty breathing, runny nose and hay fever
- permanent or recurrent hives and skin rash
- regular sneezing attacks, if they are likely caused by dog/cat hair or pollen if it is always present, except the winter months
- feeling or being sick, diarrhea or full body rash caused by food which did not cause symptoms when previously consumed
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING THE ALLERGOLOGY EXAMINATION?First of all, our specialist records your medial history, reviews your previous medical records and performs a physical examination. For selecting the appropriate therapeutic method, an accurate diagnosis is needed. In most cases, if up to date findings are not available, the allergology specialist performs or prescribes further tests. At our office, allergen detection can take place by administering a skin prick test, by a pulmonary function test (spirometria) or by measuring blood oxygen levels (pulsoxymetry) in addition the specialist can also prescribe laboratory tests. The appropriate therapy can be planned after all test results are completed. The allergology specialist can also help the patient coordinate a visit with our other specialists.
